I am a director of John J Rice & Company Solicitors where I have been a criminal defence practitioner since I was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in September 2000. My other areas of practice include personal injury litigation and judicial review.
I am currently a member of the Council of the Law Society and sit on its Criminal Law, Access to Justice, Contentious Business and Rights of Audience Committees. I am the Law Society nominee to the shadow Civil Justice Council and a visiting tutor at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies.
I was previously an Assistant Commissioner to the District Electoral Areas Commissioner as part of his 2013 review into the grouping of new wards within the eleven new local government districts into district electoral areas.
Since 2017 I have been a legal chair of the Disciplinary Appeals Committee pursuant to the Health and Social Care (Disciplinary Procedures) Regulations (NI) 2016.
